Press Association.— Copyright. Wellington, August 27. THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. The Council met at 2.30. Several local Bills wiere dealt with. The University of Otago Empowering was. parsed through its final stages. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES - The House met at 2.30. After considerable deba'e the Hawera County -Electric Lighting Bill was passed through its final stages. In reply to a question, Mr HallJones eaid the Government would erect a monument to the memory of returned troopers who had died and had been buried in Wellington The House met at 7. 30. Sir J. G. Ward, moved the committal of the East Coast Native Trust Lands Bill to provide for the postponement of sale by the mortgagees (Bank of New Zealand) of certain lands held " upon trust for the natives, and to make other provision relating thereto, and > to other lands held in trust for natives upon East Coast of the North Island. After a long debate the committal was agreed to, and the Bill was sub- ' frequently passed through its final Btagps- ' The House rose at midnight.
