UNLAWFUL BETTING.
Press Association. — Copyright. CHRISTCHURCH, August 27. There were seventy-two charges in all against bookmakers for trespass and betting in a public place. Almost all were fined £2 and costs. A number were also fined for remaining on the Trotting Club's ground after being warned off. About forty more charges were laid against bookmakers who had stands on the course, on which they placed their coats while betting.
