At a meeting of the residents of tVhitecliffs, .where the people are in great straits owing to the dearth of water, it was pointed out that privations existed with regard to food supplies, caused chiefly through the high prices demanded and the scarcity of provisions for teams. If the Government did not. do something towards the relief of the township/ one speaker declared he would take the lead in seizing stores and commandeering provisions in order to prevent women and children from perishing.
