KAMO V. MAIRTOWN.

On Mouu.i\ ; '.^Queen's Birthday) the 1 Mairtown played Kamo at Kensington. The weather was fine, perhaps a trifle hot at the commencement of the game but as the evening woio on the weather grew cooler. The Kamo came on the ground two men short, so they got Jacob | Meyers and Wilkinson to till up the vacanorep. Mr Scott, of Whangarei, umpired for Kamo, while Mr Healey • watched the game for the Mairtown, and Mr R. Dent was referee. In the first spell Kamo got one touch, and succeeded in getting the ball over the bar. The Mairtown got two touches but failed to convert either of them into goals. Id the second spell the Kamo did not manage to score, but the Mairtown got two more touches and succeeded in kicking a goal both times. , When time was called the scores were Mairtown eight points, and Kamo three. The most couspicious players on the. Kamo aide were Moore, B. Robinson, (both playing good forward [ games) Meyers, Mntheson, and Coutts ; i while for ihe Mdirtown Tobby Tothill, B. Dent, L. Simpson, G. Camwell, and A. Parsons played hard to win, the last named kicked a goal from a most difficult angle. The men in both teams played' good individual games, ther* ! being no unity amongst them, passing the ball being quite a rare thing. Thii wfls the first match of . the season and it drew quite a crowd- of spectators ; a great deal of '' barracking " took place for both sides. ' , On the same day a match took place between the Whwigarei School Boys and the Whangarei Juniors, which - resulted in a draw, four all. A very hard game took place, the SchoolB oys had to play like Trojans to hold, their own, being overmatched, in "... point of weight and age a; good many of them going home with rgore limbs. Young F. Galbraith got his arm injured.
