LONDON WOOL SALES.
ANfrriiMi ADVANCE. London!, December 4. Wool, greasy, advanced id per lb, crossbred advanced 7.V per cent., lamb advanced I.V to 2d lb. since the close of last sales. Buyers are operating with spirit. To date 43,000 bales have been sold. ; London, December 4. The Government hftve granted £800 each to two men named Brannighan and Murphy, wrongfully imprisoned for ten years. Solicitor-General Sir E. Clarke in referring to the matter in the House of Commons, said it was clear from this case that the rules would have to be altered, so that in future prisoners might be allowed to give evidence in defence. London, December 5. A persistent attack is being made on the Panama Canal Scheme, which threatens to prevent M. D Lesseps from raising the necessary funds to proceed with the woi*k.
