THE WHANGAREI DISTRICT SCHOOL.
(To the Editor.) Sib,— Allow me to state in the columns of the Advocate, that your correspondent, " Justice," has been led astray in her or his letter last week by an error in the report of the School Committee meeting. As the motion refering to the change of assistant teachers was not seconded by Mr Wilson, but by Mr Robert Reyburn. Comment is needless. — Youra, &c. Whangarei, September 6, 1888.
past and the favourable reports in the present, , are evidences that the committees have been right in the course they have pursued and " they are willing to be judged by results. The r charge that the Committeemen are catspaws is a slander not worth rebutting, as the meetings are public, and admit of no such thing, and the assertion that Mr Wilson always seconds what I propose is neither reason nor truth. It is true that, by an unfortunate error Mr Wilson's name appeared in the report as the seconder of the resolution referred too, but in fact it was Mr Eeyburn who did so, Mr Wilson having declined even to speak on the subject. Who Miss Greatbatch's successor seems to be known to Justice. Whatever his information may be, such knowledge ends with him, as no one else does ; and so far as either I or the committee are concerned 1 , it is a matter of indiffeieuce which of the two ladies the Board may select. Ido not wish to say anything to Miss Bedlington's hurt, and I also feel her friends will serve her best by silence. W. Beoadbent.
