CANADA AND THE COLONIES.
Ottawa, September 5. The Marquis of Lonsdowne, Governer General of the Dominion of Canada ; states that no active commercial relations exist between Canada and Australia, but expresses the opinion that it would be an advantage if close trade relations were established. The Canadian Government, however, preferred that the Australian Colonies take initiative in the matter.
