BUSH AND FERN FIRES.
During the week, the murky state of the atmosphere has been proof of the prevalence of fires all about us, and it is greatly to be feared that much loss will be sustained. At Maungakarmea, Puhipuhi, and many other places, we hear of burning bush, which is getting beyond control; and dry as everything is, nnless the greatest care is taken the terrible calamaties of two years ago will be repeated.
