WHANGAREI FRUIT-GROWERS' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the above association took place ;i the Public Hall on Wednesday evening, July 7, Mr JR. Reyburn in the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Considerable discussion took place concerning the Codlin Ltoth Amendment Bill, and a committee was appointed to draft a bill dealing with all insect pests, such bill to be sub* mitted for discussion at the August meeting of the association. The secretary reported that circulars had been distributed announcing the show, and that several persons had intimated their intention of exhibiting. It was decided to award certificates of merit for the exhibits instead of prizes A letter was read from Mr R. A. White, of Komata, on root-fungus, containing some excellent advice. It was decided to open the show from two till five in the afternoon, as well as in tho evening. Exhibitors are reminded that, their exhibits will not be received later than 11 o'clock on the the day pf show. Mr E. 0. Weaver kindly undertook to . decorate the hall. Mr Reyburn and the secretary will arrange, the musical entertainment. Messrs Eeyburn and Hanlon will arrange the exhibits. Messrs Walker and Alderton are to be requested to act as judges. There is every prospect that the show will be a decided success.
