THE FOLEY ENTERTAINMENTS.
According to announcement, on Saturday and Monday evenings Mr Foley gave his extremely clever and interesting entertainments. As a ventriloquest Mr Foley is of the first order, his acting in his various characters is faultless, the rapid changes of dress is surprising, and his comicalities really sidesplitting. It is very difficult for a single individual to keep an audience completely interested ■ for over two hours, but this Mr Foley does most successfully. One remarkable feature of these entertainments is its entre freedom from vulgarity. The ■ music he produces from eight ordinary bottles is surprisingly good. The playing of "Home Sweet Home," with variations, was lustly and deservedly encored, and responded to with " Gurry Owen^and other airs. The trio "Wait TiftaM&ouds Roll By," and the song by thFaummy, <% Just Before The Battle Mother," were really exquisite, These performances are by far the best of the kind we have seen and heard. We see that Mr Poley will again appear in Whangarei on Saturday, 9th, and Monday, the 11th inst., as well as a matinee on Saturday afternoon, and we advice all to avail themselves of the treat offered them. The people of Waipu will be glad to learn that Mr Foley will pay them a visit.
