CORRESPONDENCE.

(We are not responsible for the opinions of correspondents . . Writers must (five their names not for publication, but as a guarantee of good faith.) To the Editor of the Noethern Advocate.l THE LATE HORTICULTURAL SHOW. Sib, — Allow me to make a few remarks in answer to Fair Play. He says, while admitting that " doubtless the judges did their best in that capacity, he thinks they should have acted upon some rule." Now, sir, to my idea they acted upon very good rules, and that was to judge everything in the classes thej were entered for, and not as Fair Play does with A's and Bs horses, chalk, and greeu cheese. Now, sir, A allows the judges complimented him on his exhibit, but that is no reason .why he should expect all the prizes. A admits four varieties against Bs eight or nine, all as good, if not better, both in quality and quantity. Even with Fair Play's broad example of horses, he fails to show any classes B might j?jt"" -E™' tho best oollooticn-of— Uoodr — If A • conies in with a very good collection of donkeys, there is no doubt he gets disqualified. Now sir, as to the pears ; surely being equal in all other points and ripeness on their, side, they would be entitled to the prjze. As to the citrious fruits, allow me to inform Fair -Play i failed to see any ripe citrons, but the fr,uit that did take the prize well deserved it, it being a well shaped, and, to all appearances, a good clean skin. Apologizing for occcupying your valuable space, I am, etc., PLAY FAIE AND WIN.
