Sawmill Accident

On April 19 last a- serious sawmill accident happened near v Oiautau* Southland, whereby Peter. Connell was., killed. The deceased was a fireman.! on a mill: locomotive, and was em--. ployed by the Otautau Timber Coin-' pany. The locomotive was hauling logs, and \vas r in the act of crossing a ' bridge, recently erected, when the. same collapsed; 1 Connell being killed instantly. Liability was admitted under the Workers' Compensation Act, but, through the: instrumentality off the Southland Timber Workers' Union; legal advice was taken, with a result that a writ was issued claiming damages. - ■ -
