BRANCH MEETINGS

Branch Secretary, C. E. Baldwin, supplies the following report:--

''A meeting of the North Canterbury Branch of the .\e\i r Zealand Workers' Union was held in the Christehurch Trades Hall on March 7. The Branch President. Mr. F. Hansen,' presided, and 2") members were present.

Correspondence was received from Messrs. K'raig. Nolan, Glover, .and Robertson.

The correspondence from Messrs. Kiraig and Glover dealt with the complaints of the Branch re the conduct of Tli« Worker, and it was held over till the next meeting to .permit the mover and seconder of the resolution to be present.

The local Secretary's action with regard to Mr. Nolan's letter was endorsed.

Mr. Robertson. Organiser for the Canterbury L.11.C. was given an invitation to attend the next meeting and deliver an address re working class political action.

The meeting then considered remits for the 1920 Convention. (These will be published in The Worker in the next issue.)

The National President, Mr. A. Cook, who was present, tendered a report re the situation of the Union, and dealt feelingly with Mr. Grayudlers un- ,■ fortunate illness.

The. President of the Branch also spoke on similar lines relating to Mr. Grayndler's good finalities, after which Mr. C. Baldwin moved and Mr. A. Brown seconded the following resolution:—"That this Branch sincerely sympathises wiUi General Secretary Grayndler in his unfortunate illness and trusts thajt ho will be restored to health and enabled to. resume his

position, and further that this Branch has implicit confidence in him; and that the Executive's action in extending leave lo Mr. Grayndler be endorsed." This was carried unanimously. The local secretary was instructed to hand a copy of this resolution to the press. (This was done without response.)
