The following declaration appeared in "L'Humanite'' of May 26:—"The number of members of the Trades Unions affiliated to the General Commission of German Trades Unions, of which Carl Legien is the president, now exceed 4,000,001). On the eve of the war th© total membership numbered 2,500,000. During the war it fell to less than 1,000,000. That it should now quadruple that figure and be daily increasing is a significant fact.'''
