New Zealand Federation of Labor doesn't suit the "Sydney Morniny Herald." On Juno 7th, its Wellington (N.Z.) correspondent had a field day in its columns, and tho Federation "got it hot." The whole article so-.j-.iis to have been designed to undo Sr>.nplo's work in Australia. The robber;.' press doesn't want too much Labor iteration, and the workers on this side are to bo fe<l with the husks of prevarication and deceit in tho hope that the growth of industrial unionism tray be checked. The Federation, we arc told, is a sort of Syndicalist, 1.W.W., " bombs and bullets affair," win s<> loaders are being tarred and feathered in California. It is being; boycott in New Zealand, while the Labor Councils are one after another thro/.ing in their lot with tho United Laboi 'Party, "whose rapid acquisition of f-trensith is reflect-e-d in several successor at recent municipal elections." Tho United Labor Party is a respectable affair, a harmless body of "legitimate unionists" who have. " respect for law and order," but this Federation of Labor, this -anarchical and syndicalistic affair, bates capitalism and "legitimate unionism," and is endeavouring to " paralyse the community," "destroy capitalism." and "tear up the Arbitration Act." Tho calling out of the Waihi rr-iners is one of tho crimes of tho Federation. It has brought " Buffering and distress upon many innocent people," v.o are told, and crocodile, tears arc bittorly shod at sight of the suffering and distress of tho innocent by writers who, at other times, arc unmoved by the daily toll of minors' phthisis, niddcn death, permanent) injury, widowhood, orphanhood, slow starvation, and lingering death duo to capitalism and for profit. After reading the attack on the Federation, and the eulogy of the United Labor Party, we are reminded of tho saying, "In vain is the snare sot before tho bird."—" International Socialist."
