"THRIFT CLUBS"
WORKERS’ SAVING SYSTEM Wellington, Oct. 22. Regulations providing for the establishment of “Thrift Clubs” in account with the Post Office Savings Bank are notified in the ‘Gazette.’ The purpose of the regulations is to enable workers in shops and factories to save small amounts out of their regular wages, and, through trustees, to bank them to accumulate for an agreed period. Under the new scheme firms or trustees of clubs are relieved of the work and responsibility of keeping accounts, which will be handled with greater ease by the machine system used in the post office.
