ROXBURGH WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
On Friday, October 15, the members of the Roxburgh Women’s Institute wended their way to the Moa Seed Farm to view the display of tulips in bloom. As it was a perfect early summer day, a large number availed themselves of the opportunity to enjcy a garden party fn such beautiful surroundings. The members of the Millers Flat and Ettrick Women’s Divisions also joined in, so that altogether there must have been nearly 70 ladies wandering over the lawns of Mr J. Dance’s delightful garden. Worthy of special mention were his polyanthus primroses , which showed truly luxuriant growth and wealth of blooms. In the large, wellkept field of tulips, there were to be seen many lovely, coloured blooms, which evoked much admiration.
A short address was given by Mrs. E. M. Seward, President of the Ealing (London), Townswomen’s Guild, and a member of the Associated Countrywomen of the World. Mrs Seward gave a short but interesting account of how the Guild meetings are conducted. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the following hostesses —Mesdames Martin, V ernon, Waters, Bloxham, Dowle, and Woodhouse, and Miss Walker. The sincere thanks of all the ladies are due to Mr and Mrs Dance, who so kindly threw open their lovely garden in such a gracious and generous fashion.
The next meeting of the Institute will be held on November 10, which will be Grandmothers’ Day.
