ANNUAL MELTING. The second annul meeting of the .Millers Flat Golf Club was held in the hall on March Bth, and was well attended by members and intending members. The chairman welcomed the. members and stated that the large number present was a good sign that the continued success of the club was assured. After the annual repotand balance-sheet was read the following office-bearers for the ensuing year were 1 elected:—

President.—Mr L. Milor. Vice-President—Mr T, Stock dill. Secretary.—Mrs L. Faigan. Treasurer.—Mr L. Faigan. Club Captain—Mr F. Ferguson Auditor—Mr d. Riach.

The following is thi' annual re port as submitted to the meetim and it discloses a very satisfac lory state oi‘ affairs:— The cammittee has pleasure it tendering- the second annual re port and desires to preface its re marks on the year’s working in ext ending*’ to all members thanktor their whole-hearted and spontaneous co-operation. The year opened with a membership of 17 men and Id ladies and during the season 12 men ami live ladies were elected giving tin ciu!< a total membership of 47 a; the end of the season. The committee feels gratified that tin game has attracted so many ol Mil residents and trusts that the ' iisuing year will be marked with the same enthusiasm that prevailed during the past season. Farly in the season a greens committee was deputed to control the formation, general maintem aree and welfare of the links amt thanks are due to these gentk -

men fur the thorough manner ii which they earned out their duties with the limited funds at then disposal. To the iaiul-ow tiers Messrs <1 opsou Bros. and tin -Messrs Richardson Bros, out thanks are due for their conturned interest and support. During the season sundry competitions were conducted and these proved a source of keen, I friendly rivalry and were full of j interest. The congratulations of tin club are tendered to the various winners. Our major competitions, the two championships and the .Miller cup were well .supported ami our congratulations are tendered to Mr F, Ferguson, Mrs 0. -MacDonald, and Mr V. Waldron on their respective wins. Outside matches against Dnnrohin, lierioi, and Roxburgh proved very enjoyable and whilst w uid not emerge victorious from any of these encounters the e\p 1 rieiice gained has proved of value lo the participants. To Mr F. Ferguson oil winning the chain- i pionship at the Tapauui tournament our hearty congratulations au extended.

Early in the .season the flub by resolution in, n special general meeting adopted a constitution and set oi‘ rules to govern the club’s a flairs and experience has shown that this was a step in the right direction. Score cards printer! to our specification were obtained and these were appreciated by members.

The social side of the club was not neglected and a ball was held on October 20lh. Adverse weather conditions somewhat spoilt the attendance and the outcome was a small iiiiaueial deficit. In all oilier respects the function was a success and the thanks of the committee are due to all those v.ho helped with the preparation of the supper and the erection of the decorations. To the ladies of the club a special vote of thunks is due for the splendid afternoon teas provided for visiting players. The retiring committee wishes to stress the fact that much work has yet to be done on the links before the-club can feel satisfied with its grounds. It has been the aim of the committee to do as much work as possible by paid labour as whilst the enthusiasm of members generally was well known it was felt that all could not, despite their desires, contribute equally to the labour and by engaging outside workers it was felt that the cost would be equably distributed over the whole of the club and also in small measure helping the unemployment problem. It is hoped that the incoming committee will be able to continue the work of improving the greens and fairways and now that members have overcome the major expense of the game, the purchase of clubs, it is hoped that an increased subscription will allow consideration of work that has been regretfully shelved on account of lack' of funds.

The incoming committee will he faced with a heavy programme, including a number of inteivclub games, and it is desirable that our links be made as attractive a« possible.

Throughout the year the handicappers have given care to assessing the merits of all who have
