INVESTIGATIONS IN TUAPEKA DISTRICT.

Tlie arrival of Dr P. Marshall. Government Geologist, in Dunedin and his visit to Eawrenee in company with the representatives of a powerful mining gtotip have caused a stir in gold-min dig circles (says the Evening Star).

Representatives of this mining group, have lately spent considerable time in and around Lawrence, and have conducted exhaustive tests in up-to-date and economical methods of treatment of the cement conglomerate deposits of lie Tnapeka district. Incident to the project the experts have already been in touch with the -(beers of the South Otago Power Board and have tentatively secured practically the whole of the board’s surplus power for this project. The utmost secrecy is being observed by the parties connected with the new c.oiipany. It is stated, however, that a -nm of TgOOiKIO will be involv'd in the purchase and erection of the comprehensive plant necessary to deal with the cement conglomerate.
