Thirtv learns entered and every team took the Held, this being the largest number of teams taking part in a tournament in Tuapeka for some years back. The play in each grade was well up to the standard of football ot previous years and some very line games were witnessed during the day. I'he tournament was concluded with the •minor final being play just as the bgk. was beginning to fail, but this was not the fault of the officials, the reason being that the senior teams held up the tournament through not being on the ground when required. A fairly large number of spectators were present, the gate receipts amounting to £3l iffs. which must be considered very satis factory. The referees, Messr.- J. George. T. Waigth, T. Stoekdiil. J. Turnbull. D. Gahili and F. McDonald had a strenuous day and d<scne >pe c ai thanks for their sen ices. Clyde lt>, Cromwell 0. ileriot 0 Coal Creek A 0. These two games were played at the same time and most of the spectators watched the Creek-Ueriot game which proved a hard, strenuous tussle. Creek threw the ball about well, but were well watched by Ueriot who made no mistakes in their tackling. In the first spell from rucking play on Creek line Berriam just got across in a tackle a Creek player still hanging on to his jersey'. In the second spell R, Aiteli - son ran clean through from half way to score Heriot’s try and although for the rest of the spell Creek had the up per hand they could not score.

Final. Heriol 3, Clyde 0. The final was a poor ending to the tournament in so far as that Clyde was unfortunate enough to have only s..\ men after the first two minutes, one of their players having to leave the field with his shoulder out. Horiot was not prepared to let Clyde put on another man ami despite this handicap Clyde had Horiot fully extended right through the game which resulted in a narrow win for He riot by 3 to 0. '1 ho losers are to bo congratulated on the fine game they put up with sis men against their opponents' seven. Tlcriot Seven! W. Pattemm, M. Walker, &,
