Cricket
The efforts to form a cricket association in this district have evidently proved abortive, as the adjourned meeting of delegates called for last Wednesday evening lapsed for want of support. It is to be regretted that suthcient interest cannot be; aroused among players to enaule the good old game being put on a iirui footing. Set fixtures are, therefore, out of the question and matches will have to be arranged mutually between thie various clubs.
A visit is to be made to Roxburgh by the Dunedi#i cricketers who have twice previously visited here and the various matches are being looked forward to with interest by local enthusiasts (who, however, wild have to indulge in more practice if they wish to make a stand against the visitors), The . visitors bring a dramatic troupe with them under the title of the Bohemian Entertainers, and there is considerable talent among them including the Vivians, successful performers at the recent competitions. It is their intention to give two performances while in Roxburgh and one at Millers Flat.
The Rev. Drake, who played for Roxburgh while stationed in the Dunstan charge, is again playing well this season. For Naseby v. Ranfurly on the 2Sth he took six of the latter's wickets for 33 runs and made 12- (run out).
