Kairanga
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Good weather added greatly to the pleasure of all present for the annual calf judging competitions. The fact that there were 52 animals paraded before the judge including calves ana senior animals shows what a lively interest the future young farmers are taking in the stock. The condition and docility of the animals showed that many hours of patience and hard work had been put in by the young entrants. The results have already been published. There were a goodly number of pet lambs which were judged by Mr. M. Kearins resulting as follows: Seniors, L. Matheson’s Bunny 3, Betty Pratt'S Bounce 2, J. Pratt’s Pounce 3. Juniors: I). Clarke’s Buster 3, A. Walls's Snowdrop 2, G. Williams’ Snowball 3. After the judging the children and tno largo number of parents and friends present were entertained at afternoon tea in the hall. Amongst those present were Messrs. A. Dickie and Johnston (school inspectors), E. 11. Lange (agricultural instructor) and I. W. Mudford (a member of the Education Board). Mr. McKay and a number of boys from the agricultural class of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School were also present as spectators. A very successful dance, organised by mcmebrs of the Kairanga Tennis Club, was held on Tuesday night. The hall had been decorated with flowers and greenery and dancing to the strains of a professional orchestra everyone had a very happy time. Winners of the Monte Carlo were Mr. N. Hitching and Miss Richardson and the Lucky Gay Gordons, Miss M. Collis and Miss Passey’s partner. Mr. R. Newman made a very capable M.C.
