OROUA DOWNS Mrs. J. Funnell presided over a good attendance at the November meeting. The president’s letter was read by Mrs. Dench. Mrs. G. Gates presented her report of the half-yearly council meeting recently held in Palmerston North. Arrangements were completed for the forthcoming flower show to be held on November 30. It was decided to open the show from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m., an orchestra to bo engaged for the dance to follow at night. Arrangements were also made for the children’s Christmas treat to be held on December 14. A vote of thanks was accorded Miss J. Christensen for the donation of a beautiful tatted toilet set and also to Mrs. Marchant for the cake, both articles for competition. The meeting agreed to the suggestion to recommence the Sunshine Club early next year. Competitions resulted: Mrs. Dench 1, Mrs. Veale 2; bloom, Mrs. J. Funnell I, Mrs. Jamieson 2; institute emblem, Mrs. Groom 1, Mrs. Jamieson 2. The competition for next month is a Christmas novelty to be sent to Mrs. Penketh for distribution in the hospital. KIMBOLTON. Mrs. Gerke presided over a large attendance of members at the November meeting. A busy afternoon was spent members making a patchwork quilt for Unrra which, when finished, was very much admired. Mrs. Gerke gave an account of the half-yearly council meeting. Mrs. Miers read the president’s letter. During afternoon tea a roll cah ‘Where were you born?” was taken by Mrs. W. Scott. It was decided to enter for the Feilding show, members to bring articles to the December meeting. It was also agreed th' a letter of appreciation be sent to Mr... Morgan. Although not a member, she \. as a great help to the Institute. Mrs. Craighead’s resignation was accepted with regret. As a foundation member and flower steward she will be greatly missed. At an afternoon held previously to the monthly meeting, Mrs. Craighead was presented with a pyrex dish. Competitions were judged by Mesdames Bryant and Whitelow and resulted: Best bloom, Mrs. Youlo 1, Mrs. R. Beard 2, Mrs. Jones,; ranunculus, Mrs. R. Beard 1 Mrs Jones 2; Iris, Mrs. Schmidt 1, Mrs Jensen 2; flowering shrubs, Mrs Schmidt 1, Mrs Jensen 2; pansies, Mrs. R. Beard 1, Mrs Jones 2. Competitions for December are roses, 3 blooms, all different, jug mixed flowers arranged for effect, not less than four, best bloom and best lettuce. A new member, Mrs Whitelow, was welcomed. The hostesses uoie Mesdames Bryaut and Miers and Miss Livingstone. Next month they will be Mesdames Owen and Osborne and Miss Ritchie.

TIRITEA Mrs. Brill presided over the November meeting of the Tiritea Women's Institute and "welcomed members and friends. Xt was decided for the December meeting that each member should bring a parcel to the value of Is as a Christmas gift, also to ask a friend. A demonstration by Mrs. Wood of Milson, on sheep skill toy-making was most interesting and a supper-cloth competition was won by Mrs. Murray. Competition: Best bloom, Mrs. Shere 1, Mrs. Thompson 2. Hostesses: Mesdames A. Ilopcropt and P. llhodes.
