Appeals Against Direction To Hospital Employment
UNSUCCESSFUL PETITIONS OF SIX YOUNG WOMEN
At a sitting of 'the Wellington District Industrial Manpower Appeal Board in Palmerston North yesterday, Messrs F. Cornwell (chairman), A. Black and C. Kerr heard five appeals against the decision of the District Manpower Ofiicer (Mr. L. W. Cozens) directing young- women to employment with the Palmerston North Public Hospital, and one to the Awapuni Home. AIL of the appeals were disallowed. Margaret Alice Ivay appealed against the direction of Beryl Isobel Kav to the hospital as a wardsmaid; Joan Dorothy Beattie appealed against her direction to the hospital as a wardsraaid; Marjorie May Caldwell and the Department of Health appealed against her direction to the Awapuni Home as a wardsmaid; Claire Kathleen Miller appealed against her direction to the hospital as a kitchenmaid; Mrs. A. M. Pearson and the Union Bank of Australia appealed against the direction of Patricia Jano Pearson to the hospital as a kitchenmaid; Olive FranklinBrowne appealed against her direction to the hospital as a wardsmaid. The Board allowed an appeal by Roy Ronald Corlet against the decision of the Manpower Ofiicer refusing him permission to terminate his employment with Messrs Terazzo (N.Z.) Ltd.
