Democracy and the National Party
At. a meeting of the women ’s section of the National Party Mr. L. I. Plitumer addressed the members on the relation between democracy and the National Party. He gave a brief outline of the principles underlying sound democratic government and demonstrated how these principles were basically the principles of the National Party. In conflict with socialism democracy was at a disadvantage, firstly because its methods were fairer and secondly because it demanded greater responsibility from the individual; however, its principles were well worth fighting for and it behoved all individuals to get into the fight and oust socialism forever from the country. The women members had proved stalwart supporters in the past and he was confident they would get right behind the organisation at the coming elections and win the seat for Palmerston North. \
