On December 8, Northern will play heir challenge match for the Hurn Cup against Hokowhitu who became tne folders of the trophy when they defeated Takaro. The teams are as follow: Northern, Brown, Puklowski, Mears (sj; Hokowhitu, Bailey, Knowles, Gardner, Richardson (s). On the recommendation of the New Zealand High Commissioner, bursaries at the King’s College, Cambridge, have been awarded to Flight-Lieut. 1). H. Tudhope, of Auckland University College, and to Lieutenants D. G. Collingwood, R.N.Z.V.R., and J. M. Cope, R.N.Z.X.V.R., of Victoria University College, Wellington.

General Araki and Yoshihisa Kuzuu, leader of the Black Dragon Society, have surrendered to the Allies and have beq*j imprisoned as suspected war criminals. Araki said the trial would be the best opportunity for clearing up the Japanese position, which had been misunderstood by the world. The Belgian Minister for Economic Affairs (M. Desmaele) said that free trado between Britain and Belgium was producing encouraging results. Negotiations were under way for a similar agreement with the Dominions.
