Mr. and Mrs. B. Abraham of 12 Pirie Street, Palmerston North, have received advice from the Minister of Defence that their son Acting Flight Lieutenant E. J. Abraham, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Miss Myra Sawyer, the well known Wellington soprano, has been engaged to sing the soprano solos in “The Messiah” at Palmerston North ou December 4. She will also sing the solos in “Elijah” in the Town Hall, Auckland, on February 27.

Another Burglary. Entering through a fanlight over a door into the office of Messrs Boniface Bros. (P.N.) Ltd., bakers, in Cuba Street, burglars made an unsuccessful attempt to open a safe with explosives. Apparently the intruders had some time at their disposal, for they went through a number of drawers and ransacked some vans for tools. Two bottles of cordial were reported to be missing.
