Bulls

(From Our Own Correspondent.) At an executive meeting of the Bulls branch of the R.S.A., considerable time was spent discussing the Queen Carnival campaign and a good deal of ground was covered. Mr. J. H. Ellery presided. Following a question, should the Bulls queen have any maids of honour, it was decided that she should have two. A sub-committee is to be set up in Parewanui. There are a number of enthusiastic supporters in that area and on November 16 they intend holding a card evening in the Parewanui School. Mrs. Robins and Mrs. Huddleston are again conveners for a card evening to bo held in the Clifton Hall, Bulls, on November 23 at 8 p.m. Dances are to be held on November 29 and December 20. The tennis club has offered the committee the use of its courts for a tennis afternoon. A lengthy discussion ensued in connection with the preposed raffle. A permit has been obtained to run one and the business people of Bulls have generously donated many articles for prizes. It is hoped to have the raffle books out by Monday. Mr. W. Kearney, delegate for tho Bulls branch of the Labour Party, is visting Wellington for the annual New Zealand Labour conference. He will also be visiting his two sons, Orderly Sergeants John and Herbert Kearney. John has just been discharged from the Army and has returned to his former employment, that of an accountant in the Public Trust Office. He has a B.Com. degree. Herbert is still in the Army attached to the dental department of the Air Force, Wellington. He was formerly employed in the Post Office at Wellington. Both John and Herbert are married and each has two children.
