Debt to Norway Frozen by Britain

LONDON, Nov. 12 Much regret is felt in Norway that the new trade agreement between Norway and Britain does not allow the possibility of using Britain’s debt of £75,000,000 sterling to Norway, says the Exchange Telegraph’s Oslo correspondent. The blockade of sterling funds may become an obstacle in the way of rebuilding part of Norway’s merchant fleet in British yards. The terms of the monetary agreement between Norway and Britain, which are published in a White Paper, fix the exchange at 20 kroner to the pound sterling. (.The rate at parity is about 18]. The Governments agree to control fluctuations of the money market within fixed limits, and co-operate in keeping capital transactions within the scope of their policies.
