The Farmer and Labour Platform

A special urgent meeting of the Pahiatua Labour .Representation Committee was held last week in Dannevirke to consider the question of one man one vote, one vote one value. The meeting, which was fully representative carried unanimously the following motion: “This meeting of the Pahiatua L. heartily endorses the legislation of the Government in regard to the principle of one man one vote, one vote one value, in altering the country quota. This meeting is also of the opinion that if a general honest discussion of the farmers was made on the farmers’ problems, a good deal of light could be given to the subject. It also thought that Labour principles could be used to advantage by a majority of the smaller farmers. We strongly recommend them to view all subjects broadly. We feel it cannot be to the advantage of two factors of our community in this wonderful country to be at variance. We suggest that the farming community try to help the Government instead of hindering them in their progressive legislation and so allow the country to benefit as a whole, town and country folk alike. 1 ' A copy of the resolution is being sent to Mr. K.
