Troops Again Walk-off Liner Orion

Received Sunday 8.35 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 11. One thousand men from a draft embarked for repatriation to Australia and New Zealand walked off the liner Orion at Southampton yesterday after inspecting the quarters. An officer among the draft embarked on the Orion told the News of the World: “The ship is very clean but hopelessly overcrowded. If 50 per cent, of the men aboard were removed, the Orion would still be uncomfortably crowded. We expect a certain amount of hardship, but see no reason why we should tolerate the present conditions. We understand the Australian Government is paying £IOO an officer for our passages.’ ’ It is imderstood that arrangements were made for a total of more than 3000 members of the Services to sail.
