Feilding Live Stock Sale

STORE SHEEP VALUES INCLINED TO EASE Moderate offerings of live stock came forward in all sections of yesterday’s sale at Feilding when the only noteworthy happening was an easing tendency for store sheep. In other deparements values .were steady. Fat Sheep Under 1000 head of fat sheep were disposed of at values equal to late rates. Most of the offerings were out of the wool and the quality was medium to good. The realisations included the following:—Wethers: 27s lOd, 29s 7d, 30s lOd, 31s lOd, 32s 4d, 32s lOd, 34s 4d, 34s lOd to 35s lOd; hoggets, 23s lOd, 25s Is, 25s lOd, 26s 4d, 28s Id, 28s lOd, 29s lOd, 30s Id, 30s lOd, 31s 7d, 31s 10d, 325, 33s 4d, 37s 4d to 38s lOd; ewes, 13s lOd, 16d 4d, 16s 7d, 16s lOd, 17s Id, 17s 4d, 17s lOd, 18s Id, 18s 4d, ISs lOd, 22s 4d, 22s 7d, 23s Id, 24s 10d, 26s Id to 27s fid; blackfaces to 27s lOd. Store Sheep The tone in the store sheep section did not appear quite so strong as last week and there was an easing tendency with hesitant bidding. The quality was “in and out” and buyers were not very conspicuous. The realisations included the following:—2-th. wethers: 235 at 24s 6d; 101 at 24s Id; 68 at 24s 6d; 192 at 22s 6d; 33 at 19s; 65 at 233 lOd; 61 at 255; 2-th. ewes: 380 at 30s; 181 at 295; G2 at 245; 4-th. wethers: 70 (shorn) at ISs 8d; blackface 2- :44 at 23s 6d; 78 at 22s 3d; 41 at 23s 7d.. There was a sale of 51 ewes with 50 lambs at foot at 17s all counted. Fat Cattle Butchers were not operating freely for the run cattle offering and one pen of good bullocks was passed in at £l7 10s, while two bullocks of medium weight made £l7 12s 6d. Light steers sold at £lO 17s 6d. Ex-dairy cows of good quality sold from £7 7s 6d £lO 2s 6d and heifers made to £lO 17s 6d. Yealers sold at £3 10s and runners from £5 10s to £6. The market was steady values being slightly in excess of schedules. « Station Cattle There was a fairly generous offering of run cattle including several lines on account of farmers. Buyers were active with a decided preference for the farmers’ lines and while there were no outside prices, values were firm. Grown bullocks from the Kimbolton country on account of Messrs MacDonald and Richardson, numbering 102 were sold in two lots, the first pick going at £l4 10s and the balance at £l4 11s. A small pen of good yearling AA. steers realised £8 10s. Other sales included the following:—42 2-yr. AA. steers on a/c. R. Port at £ll ss; 25 AA. 2-yr. steers at £9 14s; 24 2-yr. steers at £6 15s; 15 yearling Hereford and AA. steers at £7; 17 yearling Hereford heifers at £5 15s; 5 yearling fiA. heifers at £5 ss; 16 2 and 3-yr. steers at £9; 11 do., at £ll 10s; 25 2-yr. AA. steers at £9 14s; 25 3- steers at £9 2s; 43 empty Hereford cows at £8; 23 do., at £7. Dairy Cattle Yearling Jersey heifers commanded most of the interest in the dairy cattle section where the mature beasts were in short suppl}*. The enquiry was keen. The sales were:—Yearling Jersey heifers: £3 10s, £4 7s Od, £6 15s, £7, £7 4s, £7 ss, £7 15s, £B, £8 Is, £8 5s to £8 7s; springing cows: £6 10s, £7 to £11; springing heifers: £6 10s, £9 12s 6d, £lO, £lO 15s, £l2 10s to £l2 15s. Store Cattle There was fairly firm competition for the offering of store cattle, the entries including a selection of young and old bulls. Values were:—Bulls: £2 2s, £2 10s, £4 4s, £4 15s, £5 10s, £5 12s 6d to £7; boner cows: £3 Is, £3 2s 6d, £3 ss, £3 17s 6d, £4, £4 Is, £4 7s, £4 10s, £4 12s 6d, £4 18s, £5 Is, £5 7s 6d, £5 10s to £6 15s; empty heifers: £2 15s to £4 4s.
