Restrictions on Sale Of Pork to be Lifted

WELLINGTON, Nov. 9. “The restrictions on the sale of pork will be lifted from December 17,” said the Minister of Supply (Hon. D. Or, Sullivan) to-day. “This is made possible by the fact that the United Statei Joint Purchasing Board no longer re* quires the large quantities of pork which New Zealand has been supplying for the United States forces in the Pacific area. An interim extension of the restrictions to Saturday, December 35, has been necessary, but they will definitely be lifted after that date. Tho release of pork and other meats hitherto provided to the American forces will enable us to supply more meat to Britain and this will not be affected by restoring pork to retail sale in the Dominion, because the pork will be rationed and there will be no change in the quantity of meat permitted by *he ration.”
