RONGOTEA The October meeting was presided over by Mrs. T. E. oollins. Mrs. C. W. | Davison read the thought for the J month. Matters dealing with the forthcoming flower show were dealt with and stewards appointed. A points prize of £1 Is was donated for most entries in the show. Very generous points prizes in all sections should elicit good entries. Mrs. Caverhill presented a comprehensive report on the half-year-ly council meeting. It was unanimously agreed to donate the sum of £2 2s to Mrs. Penketh for hospital work among institute members. The president reported regarding the canteen at the saleyards, that following a meeting of representatives of the different organisations it had been decided that un less the auctioneering firms provideu better facilities, it would be impossible to carry on this work. Members were notified of a gift evening to be tendered Miss Joan Churchill on Saturday, November 24, ladies a basket. Competitions resulted: Coat hanger, Mrs. M. Bower 1, Miss A. Hunt 2, Mrs. H. Caverhill 3; stall competition, Mrs. A. Hill, pair towels. Competition for December meeting is a cosy, same to be donated to stall for emergency fund. Mrs. H. Somerset held the interest of members in a very interesting talk on child psychology; as this was tho final of a series of talks given by Mrs. Somerset, Mrs. Collins thanked the speaker and presented her with a sheaf of ranunculus, stock and Iceland poppies. Mrs. Collins conducted tho quiz test. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames M. Wright, J. Wheeler, T. Gloyn and W. A. Davison. KELVIN GROVE At the November meeting there was a good attendance of mefnbers. Mrs. Shepherd welcomed Mrs. Penketh. The secretary read correspondence and the half-yearly report of the conference. Members decided that a Christmas present each bo given to all soldiers in hospital, New Zealanders and soldiers from Allied countries. Mrs. E. Rees has very kindly donated a Christmas cake for the Institute members ’ children’s Christmas party fund, and Mrs. Lewis has kindly offered to ice it. Mrs. Penketh gave a most interesting talk called “Bits and Pieces” of experiences while living in Samoa and of the people who suffer from leprosy. A guessing competition was won by Miss Parker. There is to bo a committee meeting at 1.30 sharp on Tuesday afternoon next, November 13. Hostesses for December will be Mesdames Grayson and Creachen, the competition being something new from something old. Competitions resulted: Single flower, Mrs. Rees 1, Miss Parker 2, Mrs. Williams 3; cluster, Mrs. Vile 1, Miss Parker 2, Mrs. Williams 3; novelty, Mrs. Callahan 1, Mrs. Andersen 2, Mrs. Rees 3.
