“It’s up to the Young Chaps Now!”

“I had to face a certain amount of criticism from some of the young chaps that the N.Z.R.S.A. is run by the old men. I told them candidly that the men of World War II now, or soon will have a clear majority in the organisation and if they wish they can turf us out lock, stock and barrel. I don’t mind if they do,” declared the Dominion president of the N.Z.R.S.A. (Mr. B. J. Jacobs) in a special interview after his tour of associations in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Thames Valley districts. He was keen and anxious to see the younger men come forward and take a full and active part in the conduct of their associations, and he was pleased to report that a World War II man, Mr. Ensor, of Tauranga, had been elected president of the Bay of Plenty Association. Dunedin, one of the four major associations, had set the example when it elected Mr. Jef coate, a World War II man, as its president. “It’s up to the young chaps now,” added Mr. Jacobs.
