Nazis’ Acceptance of Defeat

OVERSEAS PREPARATIONS LONDON, Nov. 8. Reports of a secret meeting at Strasbourg on August 10, 1944, released by the United Nations War Crimes Commission, reveal that the Nazis, when they realised that the war was lost, planned an underground reunion of all Nazi officials and a post-war commercial foundation in all foreign countries. Dr. Scheid, director of the Hermadorff Schoenberg Company, addressing representatives of Krupps and other great German firms, as well as Government officials, said: “German industry must realise that the war cannot be Avon. It must now take steps for a post-war commercial campaign. Each industrialist must make contacts and alliances with foreign firms and the ground must be laid on a financial level for the borrowing of considerable sums from various countries after the war.” The report of the Strasbourg meeting adds: “The Nazi Party realises that certain of the best known leaders will be condemned as war criminals, but it is arranging to place loss conspicuous members with various German factories as technical experts. The party is ready to allocate large sums to industrialists for the establishment of a secret post-war foundation in foreign countries. The existing financial reserves abroad will in return be placed at the disposal of the party so that a strong empire may be created after defeat.” The report details plans for the creation of small technical research bureaux after the war, which would receive the drawings of new weapons and other documents which must not fall into enemy hands.
