Preparing for Victory Day in Feilding

With the programme for the celebration of Victory laid down Feilding is commencing to fill in the details in readiness for the reception of the eagerly awaited news. There is great scope for individual effort in the programme and the civic powers trust that the public and institutions will fully avail themselves of this and present a really memorable show. Already a number of business houses are planning for decorated vehicles and trade shows for the procession which is to be a feature of the celebrations. There is much that can be done in the time available so that when the news does come Feilding should be well prepared to provide for a striking demonstration calculated to arouse all the enthusiasm the event will undoubtedly inspire. Tho decorating of the town with bunting is a matter which might well be put in hand without delay. Several business houses and shops have commenced this necessary task and it is understood that the civic authorities are preparing to erect coloured lights across the business streets together with bunting. Feilding once possessed a host of coloured lights which were used at Christmas time to festoon the streets and the return of these for this historical occasion will be welcomed. It is hoped that children will be induced to participate in the procession with decorated bicycles. A number have indicated that this will be done and the more participating the brighter will be the display.
