Swiss Radio Reports Acceptance of Allied Note

“Rather Voluminous Japanese Message ”!

Received Wednesday 12.10 a.m. LONDON, August 14. The Swiss radio announced that Japan has accepted the Allied Note. Reporting that the Japanese answer had been received in Switzerland the Paris radio said: “The Japanese answer is rather a voluminous message. It is thought in Berne that the document will be handed to the American and Chinese Ministers early this afternoon.” The Associated Press says the F.C.C. picked up a French Press Agency report that the Note would probably reach Washington this afternoon. “The documents are very long and are being decoded.” American Broadcasting Company monitors reported that Japanese radio stations have begun to contact all Japanese ships at sea. The Japanese are using the call letters “Mam” used by the Imperial Government to contact ships in emergencies.
