Mr. Mumby was boru in London in 1877 and arrived in New Zealand in 1897 after having spent three years in Queensland. Early in the present century he Avas appointed manager of the first New Zealand egg-laying competition, holding the position till the competition w T as closed five years later. He then Avent to Heretuunga to manage a small poultry farm of a few hundred birds and soon built it up to one of the largest commercial poultry plants in the Dominion. Mr. Mumby took an active part in poultry • politics.” He was one of the first presidents of the New Zealand Poultry Association, in 1914, and every year since held an important executive office. Mr. Alfred Seifert, whose death occurred on Saturday, was laid to rest in the Kelvin Grove cemetery yesterday, the funeral being very largely attended by representatives of commercial, farming and local body interests, who were jmying last tributes to a gentleman who had won the esteem of a very wide circle of friends. The services at the residence and graveside Avere conducted by Rev. J. Hubbard. The pall bearers at the home Avere Messrs Neil .Seifert, A. Gillespie (Shannon), S. J. Tweeddale, F. J. Oakley, N’. B. Gibbons (Wellington) and F. C. Litchfield. At the cemetery they were Messrs A. E. Mausford, B. E. Keiller, R. H. Billens, R. W. Priest, R. A. Frederic kson (Levin) and L. R. Coulter (Shannon). Many beautiful flora i tributes were laid upon the grave at the conclusion of the service. standing qualities and members stood in silence us a mark of respect, it was dec-ided to send a letter conveying the council's sympathy to the late Mr. Hodder.’s relatives.
