Feilding Live Stock Sale

Entries for yesterday’s Feilding live stock sale were smaller and activities marked no appreciable change on late quotations. The inquiry for station cattle was quieter while the beef side of the sale was weak in point of entries. Tho tone in the case of store sheep was quiet while fat sheep sold up to adjusted schedule rates. Fat Sheep. Of the 1000 fat sheep disposed of almost 600 were lambs and values overall showed a slight iirmiug due mostly to the upward movement of schedule rates on account of wool growth. Store Sheep. There was little change in the values operating in the store sheep section uud the smaller offerings were in keeping with the small attendance of operators. The realisations were: In-lamb ewes, 100 m.a. at 24s 6d, 136 do. at 23s fid, 51 do. at 22s 9d, 58 do. at 19s, 82 5-yr. at 21s 6d; wether hoggets, 14 at 12s, 114 at 15s, 201 at 16s, 29 at 17s 3d, 58 at 19s lOd, 24 at 8s 9d, 32 at 18s 2d; ewe hoggets, 143 at 13s 2d, 43 at 19s 4d, 96 at 24s 2d; blackface hoggets, 44 at 12s. empty 2-th. ewes at 17s Id, 66 wethers at 24s 6d, 71 f. and f. ewes at 12s 3d. Fat Cattle. Beef requirements were met by a small offering of ex-dairy cattle and an odd station heifer. All were on the light to medium side and prices were unchanged. A Jersey steer made £7 2s 6d, station heifers £8 2s Cd to £9 7s 6d; ex-dairy cows, £4 12s Cd, £4 17s 6d, £5 2s 6d, £5 7a fid, £5 19s fid, £6 2s fid to £6 12s fid; runners, £2; vealers, £3 ss. Station Cattle. The tone in the station cattle section was quiet and the market somewhat sticky. Entries were light and largely of the weaner class with quality mixed. Good quality well grown Hereford-A.A. weangr steers made to £7 and 2-off A. A. steers sold to £9 10*. Other prices were: 27 Hereford weaner steer* at £5 ss, 35 do. at £3 Bs. 26 do. at £4 19s, 10 do. at £2 10s, 47 do. at £3 4s, 22 Here-ford-A. A- weaner heifers at £4 19s; 2s-yr. A.A. heifers £7 7b to £8; 10 Hereford weaner heifers at £2 10s, 48 Hereford cow’s r.w.b. at £6 Is. Many of the offerings failed to sell under the hammer. Dairy Cattle. Dairying interests found little offering in the dairy cattle section but for sound lines prices were firm. The sales include the following: Springing heifers. £5 17s fid to £lO 128 fid; heifer calved, £6 2s Cd; w-eaner heifer*, 20s, £2 10s, £4 8s to £5 19s. Store Cattle. A small offering of store cattle sold as follows: Cows, £3 15s, £4, £4 2s 6d to £5 7s 6d; bulls, 38*, £3, £5 to £6 12a fid; empty heifers, £4 to £5 Is.
