Finals for Hawera

YOUNG CHARLES UNLIKELY TO MAKE THE TRIP Awapuni horses eugagod at Hawcra were expected to have left yesterday but the arrangements were changed and they are to leave to-day. There was plenty of interesting work yesterday morning and the tracks wero faster. Highlights were seven furlongs by Foxiana and Renascor on the plough and the jumping of Epping, Indian Sign and Red Sign over the big fences. Young Charles went with Sandy Cape over the hurdles and he was very lame when he pulled up. Foxiaua and Renascor had the pace on all the way and they were home together in 42. Foxiaua looked as sound as a bell when he pulled up. Red Sign (W. F. Carter) and Indian Sign (Miss Freda White) travelled about a mile and a half twice taking on the logs and the sod wall. Well ridden, they gave a grand display, the only blemish being at the second of the brush double. Epping (N. Howard) went on his own, starting at the sod wall. He jumped brilliantly. Something seemed to distract him as he was going into the logs but he got out of it with a very clever jump. In his effort over four hurdles, Young Charles, who was ridden by Howard because Eric Temperton had taken a tumble when Gold Money Song fell with him, jumped well but he was in a bad way when he pulled up. Sandy Cape went really well. Taane Pango (J. Fagan) jumped two brush fences and then galloped a mile, working well. Rink (S. Waddell) and Dunbar (A. G. Waddell) galloped a mile and after being given plenty of time to lind their feet they were home very nicely in 41 2-5 to complete in 1.55. S. Waddell rides Rink at Hawera. Broiefield went with Minton over a mile but there was not much pace on and they ran the last three easily in 43 2-5. Beneve (Pearce) and Gardano (Rout) were going smoothly at the end of a mile, the last three in 42 3-5. Flying Ace (S. Waddell) galloped seven and Rampant (A. Waddell) started after him three seconds later. Flying Ace maintained an even pace over the first half mile and Rampant closed on him. Flying Ace, however, was home in 41 3-5, and ho drew away from the home turn. Sovereign Lad (J. P. Bowness) sprinted six in 1.2 S 3-5 without being under pressure. He looks well. Glen Urquhart (M. Andrews) and Old Red (A. Waddell) were home smartly in 42 to cover five in 1.9 4-5. Colonel Rouge was given a working gallop over a mile. Saludos, looking a picture, broke 1.10 over five, and Tintern (V. Sellars) and Phalaria (W. J. Stevens) took 1.11. Theolateral (S. Waddell) sprinted three in 42 1-5. He worked attractively. Ideation (A. Head) and tho Cloudy Bay mare (A. Waddell) pleased over three in 42. Army Girl, Gay Rouen and Purple Dawn covered five in 1.12 HAWERA RIDING ENGAGEMENTS Rex Beale: Colonel Rouge. S.
