The lion. Mr. Justice Johnston will preside at the quarterly sessions of the Supremo Court which open iu Palmerston North on April 30. Friends of Laucc-Bomburdier W. A. Kelly will be pleased to hear that his brother, Mr. J. K. Kelly, of Joseph Street, Palmerston North, has received a cable from him saying he is safe arid well in the United Kingdom. Lance-Bombardier Kelly has been a prisoner of war in Italy aud Germany for 3J years. Advico has been received by Mr. and Mrs. A. McKay, of 113 Church Street, Palmerston North, that their only son, Private L. D. McKay, who was taken prisoner at El Alameiu iu 1012, has arrived in England and is well. Pte. McKay was in a prisoner of war camp in Italy for a period, but when the Italian Government capitulated he was transferred to Germany. The following military appointments are gazetted:—Second N.Z.E.F. (Middle East), N.Z. Artillery, Licut.-Colouel G. J. O. Stewart to be Tomp.-Coloucl and appointed commander of Artillery. Second N.Z. Division, vice Brigadier R. C. Queree; N.Z. Staff Corps, Captain (Temp.-Major) G. F. Yerex ceases to bo seconded to the Department of Internal Affairs and is posted to the retired list with the rank of major.
