Can’t Have it Both Ways
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I sat dowu the other night to listen to what Hun. Mr. Sullivan had to say, thinking to hear some sound eommonsense but was very disappointed. He asked the farmers to grow more wheat as • millions of people would starve if they did not. Does he think the farmers go out into the field and wave a wand and up comes Hon. Mr. Sullivan’s wheat? No, Sir, the wheat the farmers grow lakes men to produce it, not a wand. Hon. Mr. Nash might wave his wand aud get millions of pounds, but the farmer has not learned that art yet. So now, Mr. Sullivan, you give the farmers the men instead of taking men from them and you will get all the wheat and meat and butter you want. Give the farmers the men and leave the rest to them. No men, less wheat and meat and butter. You cannot have it both ways.—l am, etc.,
