Tracks Were Heavy At Awapuni Yesterday CANDIDATES FOR OPAKI ADD WORKED WULL Fallowing lieavy rain auring Wednesday night the tracks at Awapuni were sloppy when horses engaged at opaki were given their iinal gallops. The Hags were nearly 60 ieet out on the course proper and 15 to the furlong was quite good time. Flying Ace was given a working gallop. He was not required to do his best but he worked well enough to suggest he should bo in good order for Opaki. Dileas (Ewan) and Blanket (Waddell), from the seven furlong barrier, were home in 45 to complete in 1.40. Drake’s Drum (N. Rout) was beaten by Gardane (Taylor) and Prince Eu (W. Rout) over six and they ran the last live in 1.13 3-5. Theolaleral (Broughton) sprinted six in 1.30, and Pompit (Ireland) was timed to run the last three of a mile in 44. Rink (Ewan) and Rampant (Waddell) again worked over a mile. They began well and maintained a steady 15 to the furlong throughout. Alethea (Sellars) worked once round with the pace a bit faster from the live, from which peg she came home in 1.14 3-5. Young Margaret (Midwood) and Young Charles (Temperton) cut four out in Cl, the last three in better than 45. Dunbar (Irwin) and Hakim (Reid) galloped seven in 1.41 3-5, and they were going well at the finish. They went from the barrier but Theiolyn (M. Andrews) did not and he cut seven out in 1.43 3-5. Gala Song (Waddell) and Swift Jav (Ewan) came home from the seven furlong barrier in 1.40 2-5. Don Quex, who is likely to race at the Manawatu meeting, worked kindly over a mile, running the last three in 45. Mesalliance (Waddell) sprinted three in 40 which was quite good.
