PALMERSTON NORTH BRANCH At the meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the W.D.F.U. yesterday Mrs. B. A. Bond (Rangiotu) presided over a good attendance. The secretary (Mrs. J 7 A. Russell), reported on the servicing by members of the Patriotic Shop when the sum of £26 ISs lOd was realised iu two and a half days which had been considered most satisfactory. Mesdames Burgess, formerly member of the Marton branch, E, Thailand from Motueka (now Terrace End), D. Collis (Kairanga), Fowler and Mcßeth were welcomed as new members and a welcome was also accorded Mrs. T. D. Lynch (Linton). The treasurer (Mrs. E. B. Jennings) presented the financial statement. An invitation was conveyed from the Palmerston North Y.W.C.ABoard to members to attend a public reception to Miss Meg Saunders, former general secretary on furlough from the Middle East and Malta. An invitation was also received to the official opening of “Te lvataroa" the latest rest home acquired by the Division in the South Island on April 7. Mrs. 11. Millard reported on the recent afternoon arranged by the Palmerston North Polish Army League and praised the vocal contributions and folk-dancing of the Polish children from Jho camp at Pahiatua. Arrangements were finalised for serving refreshments to delegates to the meeting of the Wellington Provincial meeting in Palmerston North to-day, with Mrs. H. Screech as convener. Palmerston North delegates will be Mesdames Bond, W. F. Field and Russell. Arrangements were also made for the annual meeting to be held in April. The Misses Stewart were in charge of bring and buy stall.
