Government Assistance For Flood Victims

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 21. On receiving advice this evening through several Htate Departments of the seriousness of the flooding in the Bouth Island the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) took immediate steps to call a meeting which was attended by .the Minister of Works (Hon. li. Semple) aud representatives of the Railways Department, Post aud Telegraph Department, Works Department, Police Force, Army and Air Force. It was decided that all the Depart ments would cooperate to assist those suffering from the floods, and in giving what help was required all the resources of the various Departments would be utilised for that purpose, said Mr. Fraser at the conclusion of the meeting. Mr. Hemple was leaving Wellington for the Island by air to-morrow measures. All to-day the Army had been assisting those in many of the flooded parts.
