Proposal for Settlement Of Palestine Problem

Received Tuesday, 8.50 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 20. The British Government has submitted to the leading Arab heads of States now meeting in Egypt a proposal for an all-round settlement of Middle East problems. The British United Press’ Cairo correspondent says the proposals, which are reported to have been submitted to King Farouk and Ibn Saud, comprise these points: Firstly, the Arab Federation would receive joint recognition from Britain and America; secondly, Iraq, Syria and Transjordan Palestine together with the Arab districts of Nablus and Djenin should be linked up to form one Arab State ruled by the Emir Abdullah of Transjordan; thirdly, the remainder of Palestine should be a Jewish State which would bo federated with Lebanon into a Jewish and Christian State. This State would be free, if it wished, to join the general Arab Federation.
