U-Boats More Active

LONDON, Feb. 16. The German News Agency claim* that U-boats in recent weeks have been operating off the coast of England, also Gibraltar, the St. Lawrence Estuary, Reykjavik and Murmansk. The new activity is attributed to the use of the schnorkel (a breathing pipe enabling a U-boat to remain submerged for long periods). “This, however, does not mean that U-boats will stage a sudden comeback,” the agency said. “U-boats equipped with the airshaft have remained under water over ten weeks without once surfacing.”
