Australian Navy’s Growth

MELBOURNE, Feb. 15. In spite of losses the fighting tonnage of the Royal Australian Navy to-day is more than 600 per cent, greater than at the outbreak of the war. Its personnel has also increased by more than 600 per cent. These figures have been revealed by the Minister for the Navy, Mr. N. J. O. Makin, in announcing the resumption of normal recruiting for the Navy. Naval recruiting was curtailed considerably at the end of last year.
