Feilding Live Stock Sale

BEEF VALUES REGISTER STRONGER TONE

Beef values at yesterday’s live stock sale in Feilding registered a stronger tone with one of the best offerings of station cattle witnessed for some long time. The quality was very good indeed and buyers competed freely for the truck lots in bullocks and female lines. Mutton values remained largely steady with but minor fluctuations, but the store hogget market was very strong for all good quality lots. Recent outside transactions in station cattle point to a very firm market and the offering yesterday of mixed sorts found buyers active particularly for grown sorts m good condition. Overall there was an ‘ ‘in and out ’ ’ sale due in a measure to dealers’ lots influencing the activities. Under the hammer prices for bullocks, however, suggested that the market is strong just now. Dairy cattle again sold well. Fat Sheep. Ewes accounted for the bulk of the offering in the fat sheep section numbering 1000 of the total yarding which w r as approximately 1600. Wether mutton was in short supply and was back a few pence on last week’s rates, while good hoggets were slightly firmer and ewes much the same.
